A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, casting the Moon’s shadow on Earth. A solar eclipse can only happen during a New Moon. The Moon’s orbit is titled 5 degrees to Earth’s orbit around the Sun. You won’t want to miss the solar eclipse 2024.
Did you know that the Solar Eclipse 2024 is a long one, and the last eclipse in North America until 2045? You don’t want to miss it!
The total solar eclipse of 2024 will begin its journey from Mexico and end in Canada. To me, it makes sense to include an RV adventure to Mexico with viewing the solar eclipse. Since Caravanas de Mexico is offering tours specifically to include the solar eclipse why not join them?
Please Note: I’m not affiliated with this tour group – no benefits to me if you sign up. I’m just providing the best information I can for you.

If you’re at least thinking of RVing to Mexico next winter but a little unsure of yourself – my recommendation is to join a caravan.
Then, there’s the added bonus because 2024 will be an excellent time to join a Mexican caravan and include the adventure of seeing a solar eclipse to top it off.
First, let’s talk about joining a caravan to Mexico.

Is Mexico safe for RVers?
Experienced caravan companies avoid any trouble spots and believe that Mexico is very safe for RVs, especially in a group, offering more security.
Will we stay in RV Parks in Mexico?
Most tour companies arrange for their group to stay in full service RV parks when possible. At times, you may stay in a location with no services and do some dry camping.
How many RVs are in the Mexican Caravan for the Solar Eclipse 2024?
Every caravan company has their own limits but they usually range from 6 to 15 rigs in a group, making it manageable for everyone.
Do we have to travel every day?
No. You won’t be traveling every day. Caravans are set up for their customers to relax and enjoy the journey. There will be days of beaches, festivals and local tours. Most days of travel will be from 3 to 8 hours but will be kept as short as possible.

1st Option:You may join the group at the end of March in Melaque or on April 2 in Roca Azul near Guadalajara. You’ll view the eclipse in Durango or actually in a small town north of it. Camping has already been arranged.
Option #2: You may also join the Yucatan group near PV and do the eclipse in Mazatlan. You’ll then go to Mazatlan and an all inclusive trip to Copper Canyon including the train, hotels, meals and tours. There will be more tours heading north and you cross the border at Nogales on April 25th.
Option #3: There’s also a tour in Zacatecas before the eclipse. They have limited space so reserve soon before their magazine ads appear in June. Glasses provided.
They’ll arrange dog care while you’re at Copper Canyon.
This is the last eclipse in North America until 2045 and it is a long one.
